To meet the Court’s growth requirements, largely due to new member states and the creation of new jurisdictions, several extensions have been added to the Palace in Luxembourg. The construction of a third tower, which is the Court’s fifth extension and forms part of a wider project designed by Dominique Perrault, is being developed alongside the existing buildings on the same site which were all built at different times. This architectural project forms part of the town-planning report carried out for the planned redevelopment of the Plateau de Kirchberg and the area dedicated to European institutions in particular.
